Backmark is licensed to you under Apple's Standard End User License Agreement. These terms add what is specific to this app.
The licence
Your use of Backmark is governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement, which you can read at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula.
What the app does, and what it does not claim
Backmark identifies objects from photos and estimates what they may be worth. The estimates are produced by an AI model from a photo. They are not a professional appraisal, they are not an offer to buy or sell, and they can be wrong. Condition, provenance, repairs and the market all change what an item is worth.
Before you sell, insure, buy or part with anything on the strength of a result, have the item seen by a qualified appraiser. You are responsible for decisions you make about your items.
Purchases
Backmark gives you three scans free. After that, identification needs a plan. There are three options, and the app shows the full price of each above the purchase button before you buy:
- A weekly subscription, renewing every week until cancelled.
- A yearly subscription, renewing every year until cancelled.
- A one-time lifetime purchase, which does not renew.
There is no free trial, so nothing starts charging quietly. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings on your iPhone; the app also links to that screen in Settings. Purchases can be restored on the paywall and in Settings.
Payment is taken by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by the developer.
Fair use
A plan is for one person's own items. Automated or bulk use, resale of the app's answers as a service, and attempts to work around the app's limits are not permitted.
Adults
Backmark is made for adults who buy, sell, inherit or research antiques. It is not directed to children and is not intended for them.
Availability
Identification needs a connection and a third-party AI service. That service can be slow or unavailable. Your collection, saved results, folders and notes keep working without a connection, because they are stored on your iPhone.
Liability
The app is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, the developer is not liable for losses arising from a wrong identification or estimate, or from the app being unavailable.
